Silvia Funes was borned Mendoza, Argentina where she started her musical studies with Professor Guillermo Devia. Later she entered the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, where she studied with Professor Silvia Nasiff. In 1999, she won the "Youth Season" contest organized by the UNCuyo Symphony Orchestra and moved to Salzburg to continue her studies at the Mozarteum University where she graduated as I.G.P Gesang Pädagogik. At the Konservatory of the city of Innsbruck she obtained the artistic diploma in Lied and Oratorium with Gabriele Ehard's. She was awarded with a scholarship by the prestigious italian song tenor Master Antonio Carángelo (Treviso – Vienna). She has performed at numerous concerts and international festivals, opera houses and concert halls in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Romania. She has also joined the "Donau Philarmonie Wien" under the direction of Manfred Müssauer, the "Salzburger Kammersolisten" and the “ Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft". She has performed as a soloist with the Salzburg Chamber Soloist at the "Grosse Saal"; Salzburg and with the “Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein" under the direction of Lavard Skou-Larsen. . With the "Trio Tango en Vos" together with Raúl Funes on guitar and Nelson Díaz on violin, she began an intense artistic labor with the aim of spreading Argentine poetry and music. Being Astor Piazzolla one of her favourites composers, she participated in the "International Festival of Tango Hommage Astor Piazzolla" in Partinico, Sicily, Italy; "Festival Medzinárodny hudobny Bratislavská komorná gitara" and at the "Festival Tango y mas" under the artistic direction of Hector Ulises Pasarella in Maccerata, Italy. She played at the theater starring Ivonn in "El último Tango de Madame Ivonn" written by Italian author Raffaella Passiatore, at the Kleines Theater Salzburg and at the Passinger Fabrik in Munich. In 2019 she founded "Silvia Funes Tango Quinteto" in Innsbruck, Austria. The repertoire includes urban Argentinian music comprising classical tangos, valses, milongas, and the geniality of Piazzola sounds.

In 1982, he founded the Sexteto Menor performeing in the largest tango halls in Buenos Aires. During this period, he played with the most prestigious argentinian musicians. In 1991, he moved to Paris and became conductor and arranger at the "Trottoirs de Buenos Aires". Actually he is invited as a soloist for concerts and recordings by numerous ensembles and orchestras which lead him to perform all over the world at different festivals. In France, he is regularly invited as a soloist with the musicians of the Paris Orchestra. He collaborates with the soloists of the Royal Opera House, Milva, Paolo Fresu, VaskoVassilev, Daniel Goyone, Tango Seis, Catherine Ringer, Michel Piquemal. He had also recorded film music with directors such as Claude Lelouch, Patrice Lecomte, Albert Dupontel.

In 2000, he is invited to be part of the Acrobat Ensamble Salzburg as first violin. He also performed with the “Salzburg Chamber Solouist” as chief of the second violins, concertino and soloist, under the direction of his teacher Lavard Skou-Larsen. Recent performances include the Trio Tango en vos together with tango singer Silvia Funes and Raúl Funes in guitar; the Dúo 1492 with the tiplista Juan Manuel Araque dedicated to latinamerican folklore, the Salón Quartett “Reich an Hall”, trio “La Strada”. As well he frequently collaborates with the Salzburg Chamber Solouist, Camerata Salzburg, Innstrumenti, Deutsche kammerakademie neuss am Rhein, Zahir Ensemble, Tiroler Symphonie Orchester Innsbruck, Max Steiner Orchester, Bad Reichenhall Philarmonie among others.

After having an intense concert activity in Uruguay and Argentina as a soloist and in different chamber Music formations, he moved to ViennaAustria, to continue studying classical Guitar. He graduated with the degree Magister Artium at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst by Professor Alvaro Pierri. He discovered his love for Tango Guitar by listening to a recording of Uruguayan guitarist Ciro Perez, with whom he had the opportunity to play with in 2006, and ever since his main musical activity is focused on tango. He is a member of the orchester „Divertimento Viennesse“, where he plays Guitar and Banjo, and „Garufa!“, a Vienna based Tango-Comedy Ensemble where he started incursioning in Humor, acting and singing.

At the same time he dabbled with bassist Uli Langthaher at jazz and popular music. He actually participates in different ensambles such as the Radio Symphonie Orchestra Vienna (RSO), Chamber Orchestra Vienna (WKO), Wiener Kammersymphonie Quintet and the "XX. Jahrhundert" among others.
